Product Description

10-Inch Polished Stainless Steel Fixed Chock for Inland Barge Towing

Product Overview
The 10-inch polished stainless steel fixed chock is a deck-mounted towing-line guide suitable for inland bulk barges, tank barges, workboats, towboats and related harbor or fleet operations where a fixed, smooth line-contact path is required. Compared with the 6-inch configuration, this model has a larger A/B/C envelope and higher approximate weight, so it should be selected where the approved deck arrangement provides sufficient mounting space and foundation support.
The one-piece 304 stainless steel casting uses a curved throat and rounded section transitions to reduce sharp local contact at the line path. Mirror or high-polished finishing improves surface smoothness and simplifies routine cleaning, while final selection must be verified against the towing arrangement, line diameter, load direction, lead angle, deck structure, inspection scope and approved vessel drawing.

Quick Specifications

• Nominal type: 10-inch fixed chock → larger deck-mounted line guide than the 6-inch version, intended for arrangements with more deck clearance and foundation space.

• Main dimensions: A 534 × B 435 × C 370 mm → larger envelope than the 6-inch model and important for deck foundation review.

• Casting material: 304 cast stainless steel → material certificate should confirm the governing standard, heat number, chemistry and mechanical properties.

• Manufacturing process: silica-sol investment casting → supports controlled geometry and surface preparation before final polishing.

• Surface finish: high polish, mirror polish, or light polish → select according to rope-contact requirement, appearance, and maintenance preference.

• Inspection options: radiographic examination and pull-load test → scope, test load, acceptance criteria, and witnessing must be agreed in the inspection plan.

• Unit weight: approximately 90 kg → heavier than the 6-inch model and useful for handling, foundation planning, packing and freight estimation.

Selection & Inquiry Guide
Step 1: Confirm the application vessel and towing arrangement: inland bulk barge, tank barge, workboat, towboat, pushboat, harbor tow or fleet service.
Step 2: Confirm line type and diameter, expected maximum line load, load direction, horizontal and vertical lead angles, and the required project load or rating basis if any SWL value needs to be published.
Step 3: Provide the deck installation position and supporting structure drawing, including deck thickness, reinforcement, weld preparation and available mounting space.
Step 4: Confirm 304 cast stainless steel material certificate requirement, including governing material standard, heat number, chemistry, mechanical properties and material traceability.
Step 5: Confirm the polishing level and inspection plan: visual and dimensional inspection, RT extent, pull-load or proof-load requirement, test fixture, acceptance criteria, and witness requirement.
Step 6: Provide quantity, required certificate scope, class society or owner requirement, delivery destination, required delivery time, and product or installation photos if available.

Structure
One-piece 304 stainless steel casting | Fixed deck mounting body | Larger curved towing-line throat | Rounded section transitions | Polished rope-contact surface | Load-transfer area to reinforced deck structure

Casting, Towing and Installation Advantages

• The larger curved rope-contact path helps guide towing wire or rope through the selected deck lead while reducing sharp edges and abrupt local bending at the chock.

• Rounded changes in section support a smoother structural load path through the casting; the final design direction and permissible side lead must still be verified by calculation or approved drawing.

• Silica-sol casting supports controlled geometry and surface preparation before final polishing; casting soundness should be demonstrated by the agreed inspection scope.

• A polished stainless steel contact surface reduces coating damage at the line path and can simplify cleaning; it does not remove the need for inspection for wear, deformation, corrosion, or rope damage.

• The chock and its deck foundation act as one load-transfer system. Foundation design, reinforcement, weld details and installation inspection are therefore as important as the casting itself.

• RT and pull-load testing can be arranged according to project requirement, but examination zones, test load, holding time, acceptance criteria, and witness points must be confirmed before production.

How It Works
Towing wire or rope approaches the larger deck-mounted chock → The curved polished throat controls the line lead → Contact load is distributed through the cast body → The fixed deck mounting and reinforced vessel structure transfer the load into the deck

Applications
American inland bulk barges | Tank barges | Workboats | Towboats and pushboats where approved by drawing | Harbor and fleet towing arrangements | Newbuilding and replacement projects

Certifications & Advantages
Material certificates, maker inspection records, NDE reports, load-test documentation and class-related certification can be arranged according to project requirement and the agreed inspection scope; class product certification is subject to the applicable approval and survey procedure.

FAQ
Q1: How is the 10-inch model different from the 6-inch model?
A1: The 10-inch model has larger A/B/C dimensions and approximately 90 kg weight, so it needs more deck space and separate foundation review. It should not be selected as a direct replacement for the 6-inch model without checking the approved drawing and line path.
Q2: What material is used for this 10-inch fixed chock?
A2: The confirmed material is 304 cast stainless steel. The purchase order and material certificate should confirm the governing material standard, heat number, chemistry, mechanical properties and traceability.
Q3: Are RT, pull-load testing and ABS certification included by default?
A3: No. RT coverage, acceptance criteria, proof or pull-test load, holding time, witness attendance, and ABS documentation must be defined before quotation. Class approval is subject to the vessel project and approval procedure.
