Product Description

150PAX Totally Enclosed Lifeboat Tanker Version

Description

The lifeboat is a totally enclosed motor propelled lifeboat craft (TELB), design and construction fulfill the need for reliable, low maintenance standby and operation. And it is designed to be launched by cantilevered gravity luffing arm davit. The boat is fitted with shock absorbing skates / fenders to provide protection to the inboard side of the craft during launching.

The lifeboat hull, superstructure, hatches, buoyant tanks, steering nozzle, water and provision containers are made of fire-retardant glass fibre reinforced polyester (GRP).

Manual pump should be mounted to eliminate the seeper of the boat.

MSC.272(85) & Resolution MSC.320(89), and also has been approved by Classification Society.

2. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The lifeboat is a totally enclosed motor propelled lifeboat craft (TELB), design and construction fulfill the need

for reliable, low maintenance standby and operation. And it is designed to be launched by cantilevered

gravity luffing arm davit. The boat is fitted with shock absorbing skates / fenders to provide protection to the

inboard side of the craft during launching.

The lifeboat hull, superstructure, hatches, buoyant tanks, steering nozzle, water and provision containers are

made of fire retardant glassfibre reinforced polyester (GRP).

Manual pump should be mounted to eliminate the seeper of the boat.

3. HULL AND SUPERSTRUCTURE

The lifeboat hull and superstructure are made of fire-retardant GRP and are moulded into one unit. Together

with the inside GRP structure, the design forms a double skin boat preventing water from flooding the cabin if

the outer hull should be destroyed.

4. HOOKS

The boat is equipped with one set of safety unit, including ON/OFF load-lifting hooks forward and aft approved

by class society, a release handle mounted on starboard side of the steering position and a hydrostatic release

unit mounted on the bottom of the boat. Hooks are controlled from a release handle, will release simultaneously

when the craft is fully waterborne. If the lifeboat is not fully waterborne, the distance to waterline must be less

than 3.0m, the emergency operation procedure should still release the hook. This may result in death or serious

injury, should be followed in very special situation.

Emergency release of the hooks is possible but the system is secured against accidental release.

5. STABILITY

The craft has a positive stability up to 180 degrees and is thus self righting during intact and flooded conditions,

even fully loaded. Therefore it is important that all passengers fasten their safety harness and remain in their

seats at all times.

6. EMBARKATION AND SEATING

The craft has a door in the stern, and a watertight hatch on the forward part of the canopy. This ensures that the

crew may hang and reset the forward and after hook. It has two watertight doors on portside & starboard of the

boat. This ensures that the boat may be boarded in a minimum of time. Additional watertight hatch is installed

at the helmsman's position.

All seats are equipped with safety belts according to regulations.

7. FIRE PROTECTION

A water spray system is installed for fire protection. The spray system consists of an engine driven spray

pump which takes sea water from the lowest possible location under the boat ensuring that no flammable liquid

is drawn into the system. The spray system provides water over the entire surface of the craft. One portable

fire extinguisher is installed inside the boat.

8. AIR SYSTEM AND VENTILATION

The compressed air system installed has a sufficient capacity to provide air for the maximum number of

personnel and engine at full speed combustion for a minimum of 10 minutes, and to establish an overpressure

inside the boat to prevent ingress of toxic fumes or gas. Provisions have been made to recharge the air

system from the ship's compressed air system.

An overpressure relief valve is mounted on the aft of the superstructure. The valve prevents the cabin from

becoming dangerously over-pressured when the emergency air system is in operation.

Natural ventilation is achieved via an automatic valve located on the aft of superstructure. The valve will be

above water in all heeling conditions (0-180 degrees).

The valve also prevents the cabin from becoming dangerously under-pressured while the engine is running.

9. ENGINE

- Diesel engine approved for use in totally enclosed survival crafts.

- Fresh water cooled with external cooler.

- Two independent batteries for the starting system.

- Male socket fitted near the embarkation access.

- The fuel tank has sufficient capacity for the engine to run the fully loaded boat at 6 knots for a minimum of 24

hours.

- The engine can be operated for max. 5 min at idling speed out of water.

- The watertight and fire retardant engine compartment is located under the helmsman's position and has an

easy access hatch.

- The entire engine casing can be removed for major service or maintenance.

- The gearbox enables the craft to be driven both ahead and astern.

10. STEERING AND CONTROLS

The boat has a hydraulic steering system. The GRP steering nozzle improves the manoeuvrability both astern

and ahead.

An emergency steering is provided. If main steering system fails to operate the rudder, use emergency

steering. Place the end of tiller over rudder stock, operate the tiller both astern and ahead.

The helmsman's position is in the aft part of the boat having forward, backward and both port and starboard side

views.

The helmsman is operating:

- Hook release handle.

- Engine controls and instruments.

- Steering control.

- Compressed air system.

- All electrical equipment.

11. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

Following electrical equipment is installed:

- Main starter of engine.

- Cabin light.

- Position light.

- Two Batteries.

- Compass.

- Rotary switch for main battery and emergency battery.

- The battery charger is installed in the piller, and the external male socket is placed near the embarkation

access.

- The engine has a 12 V electric alternator. It will charge all the batteries when running.
