Product Description

Fast Rescue Boat – SOLAS High-Speed Rescue Craft Series

Product Overview
This fast rescue boat series covers rigid high-speed rescue craft for rapid recovery, search-and-rescue and emergency support duties where substantially higher speed is required than for a normal SOLAS rescue boat. The documented range includes 60RA / 60RB 6.0 m platforms and the 6.0B-1 6.7 m platform, with inboard diesel and waterjet configurations, single-point release arrangements and capacities up to 15 persons in the available approvals.
The fast rescue boat must be selected together with its launching appliance. Boat weight, release-hook SWL, hoisting/lowering speed, shock absorption or tension arrangement, davit working load, recovery requirement and installation height all affect the final system. The corresponding fast-rescue-boat davit is therefore treated on a separate equipment page rather than mixed into the boat specifications.

Structure & Safety Features
The documented fast rescue boats use a rigid FRP/GRP hull with polyurethane foam incorporated into the boat structure for reserve buoyancy. The approvals identify self-righting or recoverable-righting arrangements, console steering/control, navigation and search lights, compass, painter release, lifelines and the safety equipment required by the approved rescue-boat configuration.
A single-point lifting arrangement connects the boat to the fast rescue boat davit. Depending on the approved configuration, the release system may be an off-load hook or an on/off-load hook with hydrostatic interlock. The lifting/release arrangement is a safety-critical part of the approved craft and must not be substituted solely by nominal SWL.

Propulsion & High-Speed Rescue Performance
The 60RB and 6.0B-1 evidence sets include inboard diesel and waterjet propulsion. The 6.0B-1 MED approval documents at least 20 knots with three persons and at least 8 knots at full load, while its separate project specification states more than 30 knots with three persons for a 210 HP engine configuration. Because speed, towing force and fuel capacity vary with the approved engine/waterjet package, final quotation should identify the exact propulsion configuration.
The fast rescue boat is intended for rapid approach and recovery duties, but the page does not generalize a single top speed to every model. Only speed values supported by the applicable approved engine/boat configuration should be shown in quotation or project documentation.

Launching & Recovery Interface
Fast rescue boats require a dedicated launching appliance capable of handling the approved boat load and high recovery demand. The supplied 31 kN fast-rescue-boat-davit specification for the 6.0B-1 system documents hydraulic operation, 31 kN working/hoisting/lowering load, boat-hoisting speed of at least 48 m/min, 30 m lowering height, 20° list / 10° trim, hydraulic shock absorption and an active tension / wave-compensation arrangement.
These davit parameters belong to the matched launching-appliance page, but they illustrate why a fast rescue boat should not be selected independently from its davit. For replacement projects, the boat load, release interface, davit hook, recovery speed and installation geometry must all be checked together.

Standards & Certification
The supplied 60RA / 60RB RINA MED type-examination certificate covers rigid fast rescue boats and is valid to 29 July 2027. The supplied 6.0B-1 RINA MED certificate expired on 15 March 2026, so it is retained as strong design evidence but must not be presented as a current MED approval without a renewed certificate.

Selection & Inquiry Guide
1. Confirm required persons, person-mass basis and exact propulsion / speed requirement.
2. Confirm approved fully equipped / fully loaded boat weight and the required single-point release-hook configuration.
3. Confirm the matched fast rescue boat davit, working load, hoisting speed, lowering height and any shock/tension-control requirement.
4. Provide vessel power / hydraulic interface and installation arrangement for a newbuilding or replacement system.
5. Confirm current class, flag and MED certification requirements before finalizing the boat-and-davit package.

Applications
Fast rescue duty | Rapid man-overboard recovery | Offshore / tanker emergency response where approved | High-speed search and recovery | Replacement of existing fast-rescue-boat systems

FAQ
Q1. Is a fast rescue boat the same as a normal rescue boat?
No. Fast rescue boats use higher-speed propulsion and require dedicated launching/recovery performance. Normal rescue boats are covered separately.
Q2. Can the highest speed quoted for one engine be used for all configurations?
No. Speed, towing force, weight and fuel capacity depend on the approved engine/waterjet configuration.
Q3. Can a fast rescue boat be replaced without changing the davit?
Potentially, but only after checking the approved boat load, release-hook interface, recovery speed, lowering height and the existing davit's certification and geometry.
