Product Description

Korean Standard Link Chain | Welded Short & Long Link for Industrial and Marine Use

Product Overview

The Korean Standard link chain is a general-purpose welded round-link chain supplied in short-link and long-link patterns for industrial, marine, agricultural and fishing-related applications. Each closed link is formed from round steel and flash-butt welded. Selection is based on nominal size, actual material diameter, inside link length, inside width, supplied piece length, finish and the intended operating environment.

The supplied range covers nominal sizes 3–19 mm, standard piece lengths of 10, 15 or 30 m and approximate piece weights of 4.50–78.28 kg. “Korean Standard” is treated on this page as a commercial dimensional series because no specific KS standard number, chain grade or certified mechanical performance has been provided. The chain must not be specified for lifting, hoisting, personnel suspension, towing, mooring or load securing unless a separately approved chain grade, working load limit, proof test and minimum breaking force are confirmed in writing.

Quick Specifications

  • Product form: welded round-link chain → flexible general-purpose chain rather than roller chain or cranked-link transmission chain.
  • Link patterns: short link and long link → select according to compactness, articulation, attachment clearance and application geometry.
  • Nominal size range: 3–19 mm → actual material diameter in the supplied table ranges from 3.0 to 19.0 mm.
  • Standard piece length: 10 m, 15 m or 30 m depending on size → useful for coil, bundle, reel and project cut-length planning.
  • Construction: formed round steel links with flash-butt welded closure → weld consistency and burr removal are key inspection points.
  • Surface finish: electro-galvanized as supplied → coating thickness, corrosion environment and any alternative finish should be confirmed before quotation.
  • Approximate piece weight: 4.50–78.28 kg → supports packing, handling, freight and inventory calculations.
  • Load classification: WLL, proof load and minimum breaking force not supplied → this page does not classify the chain as lifting, towing or load-securing chain.

Short Link vs Long Link Selection

  • Short link pattern: provides a more compact pitch and closer link spacing → useful where controlled chain movement, compact storage or reduced opening length is preferred.
  • Long link pattern: provides a larger internal opening and fewer links over a given length → useful where attachment clearance, hooking or passing a fitting through the link is important.
  • Selection must consider the mating hook, shackle, pin, sprocket or guide dimensions. These dimensions alone do not confirm compatibility with a powered transmission or calibrated conveyor system.

Selection & Inquiry Guide

Step 1: Confirm short-link or long-link geometry and select the exact nominal size, material diameter, inside length and inside width from the table.

Step 2: State the application: general connection, barrier, hanging, drag, conveyor auxiliary, fishing / net equipment, agricultural use or marine utility service.

Step 3: Confirm whether the chain is non-load-rated or requires documented WLL, proof load, minimum breaking force, chain grade, heat treatment or fatigue performance.

Step 4: Specify material grade and corrosion environment. Confirm carbon steel or stainless steel, electro-galvanizing requirement, coating thickness and any saltwater exposure.

Step 5: Confirm supplied length, number of pieces, cut-length tolerance, end-link arrangement, joining accessories and packing method such as coil, bundle, reel, drum or pallet.

Step 6: State inspection and documentation scope, quantity, destination and required delivery time. Provide a drawing, sample or mating-part dimensions when interchangeability is critical.

Structure

Round steel bar | Formed oval links | Flash-butt welded joint | Short-link or long-link geometry | Electro-galvanized surface | Standard-length or project cut-length packaging

Manufacturing, Welding & Quality Control

  • Round-bar diameter and link-forming geometry should be controlled together because nominal size, actual bar diameter, inside length and inside width are not always identical.
  • Flash-butt welding should produce a continuous closed link. Weld upset, sharp burrs and harmful surface projections should be removed without excessively reducing the local bar section.
  • Link shape and pitch consistency are important for smooth articulation, packing and compatibility with mating fittings, guides or non-precision conveying arrangements.
  • Surface preparation and electro-galvanizing should be specified with coating thickness and corrosion environment. Marine or outdoor exposure may require a different protective system.
  • Routine inspection can include visual weld condition, dimensional sampling, supplied-length verification, piece-weight checking and coating inspection.
  • Mechanical testing must follow an agreed chain grade and acceptance standard. A generic dimensional table is not a substitute for WLL, proof-load or breaking-force certification.

Custom Attributes

  • Market Designation: Korean Standard link chain → commercial short-link and long-link dimensional series; exact KS number to be confirmed.
  • Link Type: Short link / Long link → select according to compactness, articulation and attachment clearance.
  • Nominal Size: 3–19 mm → refer to the supplied table; actual bar diameter can differ from the nominal designation.
  • Construction: Flash-butt welded round link → weld continuity and finished joint profile require inspection.
  • Material: Steel grade to be confirmed → carbon steel or stainless steel options should be supported by material documentation.
  • Surface Treatment: Electro-galvanized → coating thickness and alternative finishes to be confirmed according to service environment.
  • Supply Length: 10 / 15 / 30 m standard pieces → project cut lengths and packaging can be discussed.
  • Certification: SGS or other third-party inspection available upon request → scope, test items and acceptance criteria must be agreed before order.

How It Works

End link is connected to the relevant fitting or assembly → Welded links articulate relative to one another → The chain follows the required connection, hanging or drag path → Load and wear are distributed through successive links according to the approved application and chain rating

Applications

General industrial connection | Barriers and hanging arrangements | Agricultural equipment | Fishing and net accessories | Marine utility service | Non-precision drag or conveyor auxiliaries | Custom fabricated assemblies

Inspection, Testing & Documentation

Dimensional inspection, visual weld inspection, supplied-length and weight verification, coating inspection, material certificates and third-party inspection can be arranged according to the order scope. Proof-load, breaking-force, fatigue or lifting-chain tests require an agreed chain grade and acceptance standard. SGS inspection, KS certification, WLL marking or class certification is not included by default and must be confirmed before quotation.

FAQ

Q1: Is this Korean Standard link chain suitable for lifting or towing?

A1: Not on the basis of the supplied dimensional table. No chain grade, WLL, proof load or minimum breaking force has been provided. Lifting, towing, mooring and load-securing use requires a separately approved specification and test documentation.

Q2: What is the practical difference between short link and long link chain?

A2: Short link chain has a more compact pitch and closer link spacing. Long link chain provides a larger internal opening and can simplify attachment to hooks, pins or fittings. The mating component dimensions and movement path should be checked before selection.

Q3: What information is required for quotation?

A3: Confirm link type, nominal size, actual material diameter, inside dimensions, material grade, finish and coating thickness, supplied length, quantity, application, required load rating or tests, inspection documents, packing, destination and delivery time.
