Product Overview

Flash butt welded offshore mooring chain is supplied for permanent or temporary position-mooring systems used by floating offshore units and offshore loading facilities. Typical project applications include FPSO and FSO mooring systems, floating production units, mobile offshore drilling units, single-point moorings, offshore buoys, and other floating offshore structures. Each chain order must be defined by nominal diameter, link configuration, grade, continuous length, end connection arrangement, specified test loads, design service, and classification requirement.

We supply the chain through qualified chain manufacturers and coordinate the technical and documentation scope; the page does not present the chain as in-house manufacture. The approved production route normally uses rolled alloy-steel bar, hot link forming, flash butt welding, and controlled heat treatment, followed by dimensional inspection, proof loading, sample break testing, mechanical testing, and nondestructive examination according to the selected class rule and approved manufacturing procedure. Step 1: Define the offshore application: FPSO, FSO, floating production unit, drilling unit, buoy, single-point mooring, temporary spread, or other floating structure; state design life, water depth, and chain segment location.

  • Flash butt welding closes the chain link itself; stud attachment, when used, is a separate detail and must follow the approved grade-specific construction and welding restrictions.
