Product Description

Fixed Anchor Chain Cable Clench for Chain Locker | JIS F 2025 Type B

Product Overview

The JIS F 2025 Type B cable clench is a fixed anchor-chain end securing device installed inside the chain locker. Its welded steel body and transverse pin retain the inboard end, or bitter end, of the anchor chain so that the chain is positively connected to the vessel structure during normal anchor handling and stowage.

Type B is the fixed configuration in JIS F 2025 and should be distinguished from the detachable Type A arrangement. It is not a deck mooring fitting, chain stopper, lifting point, or automatically quick-releasing abandonment device. Selection should be based on the applicable anchor-chain nominal diameter, the controlled standard edition or approved drawing, installation access, weld interface, surrounding chain-locker structure, coating system, and project inspection requirements.

Quick Specifications

  • Product function: Fixed anchor-chain bitter-end securing inside the chain locker → provides a defined structural connection for the inboard chain end.
  • Standard and type: JIS F 2025 Type B, fixed type → current standard edition is JIS F 2025:2021; legacy drawings may still cite the 1992 edition.
  • Nominal size range: B40 to B120 → covers applicable anchor-chain nominal diameters from 38 mm to 120 mm.
  • Standard material reference: SS400 to JIS G 3101 for the body and Type B pin → alternative materials require drawing review and project approval.
  • Retention arrangement: Transverse pin with pin check piece and hexagon bolt / nut → helps prevent unintended pin displacement while maintaining controlled access.
  • Installation: Welded to the chain-locker structure → local curvature, weld leg, reinforcement, accessibility, and shipyard welding procedure should be confirmed.
  • Calculated mass: 5.9 kg to 102 kg → useful for handling, packing, installation planning, and freight estimation.
  • Surface protection: Sa 2.5 blasting and epoxy shop primer may be supplied as a project finish → galvanizing, final coating, and lubrication details are subject to confirmation.

Selection & Inquiry Guide

Step 1: Confirm JIS F 2025 Type B fixed cable clench, the required standard edition, and nominal size B40 to B120 according to the vessel drawing.

Step 2: Provide the anchor-chain nominal diameter, chain grade, chain standard, end-link arrangement, and any project load or emergency-disconnection requirement.

Step 3: Confirm the installation location inside the chain locker, local surface curvature, available access for pin removal, weld interface, surrounding reinforcement, and shipyard installation drawing.

Step 4: Confirm material requirement. SS400 is the standard reference for the body and Type B pin; stainless steel or other alternatives are non-standard options and require approval.

Step 5: Confirm surface treatment, final vessel coating, pin lubrication or grease-nipple requirement, corrosion allowance, marking, material traceability, and inspection scope.

Step 6: Provide classification society requirement, certificate type, quantity, delivery destination, required delivery time, and the latest approved drawing or reference photo.

Structure

Welded SS400 body | Anchor-chain seating / retaining opening | Transverse fixed-type pin | Pin check piece | Hexagon bolt and nut | Welded chain-locker interface | Project-specific surface protection

Anchor Chain, Installation & Quality Advantages

  • The fixed Type B arrangement provides a simple and compact method for securing the anchor-chain bitter end inside the chain locker where a detachable Type A mechanism is not specified.
  • Sixteen nominal sizes provide a direct dimensional selection path from B40 to B120 and reduce the need to interpolate between non-standard chain-diameter ranges.
  • The pin check piece and bolt / nut arrangement retain the transverse pin and support controlled removal for inspection or planned chain-end disconnection.
  • The standard allows the body to be matched to a curved installation surface when required, but the final contour should follow the vessel structure drawing.
  • Standard weld-leg references support installation planning; the actual weld procedure, local reinforcement, access, and acceptance criteria remain subject to shipyard and class requirements.
  • Manufacturing inspection should focus on material traceability, dimensional accuracy, pin fit and alignment, retainer engagement, weld-preparation condition, coating compatibility, and freedom from sharp chain-contact edges.
  • A grease nipple is not treated as a default JIS feature. Where lubrication access is required, its location and interference with the chain or retaining parts should be confirmed on the approved drawing.
  • No unsupported SWL, MBL, proof load, emergency-release time, or lifting function is assigned to the product.

Custom Attributes

  • Standard: JIS F 2025:2021 current edition / 1992 legacy reference → confirm the controlled edition stated in the vessel specification.
  • Type: Type B fixed → different from Type A detachable cable clench.
  • Nominal Size: B40 / B44 / B48 / B52 / B56 / B60 / B64 / B68 / B73 / B78 / B84 / B90 / B95 / B102 / B111 / B120 → select by the applicable anchor-chain nominal diameter.
  • Applicable Chain Diameter: 38-120 mm → dimensional selection range only; chain grade and design load require separate confirmation.
  • Standard Material: SS400 body and Type B pin → alternative stainless steel or special steel construction is subject to drawing and approval.
  • Installation: Welded inside chain locker → local foundation, curvature, weld leg, reinforcement, and access should be verified.
  • Surface Treatment: Sa 2.5 blasting + epoxy shop primer as a reference project finish → final coating or galvanizing requires confirmation.
  • Lubrication: Optional grease nipple or project lubrication provision → not assumed as a standard feature.
  • Certificate Requirement: Available according to order scope → class approval, witness inspection, and certificate level should be agreed before production.

How It Works

Anchor-chain bitter end is positioned in the cable clench → Transverse pin secures the chain-end arrangement → Pin check piece and bolt / nut retain the pin → Welded body transfers restraint into the chain-locker structure → Pin is removed only under the vessel's controlled maintenance or disconnection procedure

Applications

Merchant vessels | Tankers | Bulk carriers | Container ships | General cargo vessels | Work vessels | Chain-locker anchor-chain bitter-end securing | Newbuilding and replacement projects

Certifications & Advantages

Certificates and inspection can be arranged according to project requirements, material traceability, approved drawings, class-society procedures, and the agreed order scope. Availability is subject to class approval and should not be assumed as standard supply.

Certification: CCS, NK, BV, ABS, DNV, LR, KR, IRS, RS, RINA, CRS, Makers Test Certificate.

FAQ

Q1: What is the main difference between JIS F 2025 Type A and Type B?

A1: Type A is the detachable configuration, while Type B is the fixed configuration. Type B should not be described as an automatic or quick emergency-release device unless a vessel-specific approved arrangement and procedure confirm that function.

Q2: Can Type B be selected only by Grade 2 or Grade 3 anchor-chain classification?

A2: No. The standard table is organized by anchor-chain nominal diameter. Chain grade, link geometry, design load, proof requirements, and compatibility with the vessel's abandonment or maintenance procedure should be confirmed separately.

Q3: What information is required before quotation?

A3: Confirm the standard edition, Type B nominal size, chain diameter and grade, end-link arrangement, installation drawing, local curvature, material, coating, lubrication requirement, certificate scope, quantity, destination, and delivery schedule.
